in all seriousness, take a picture with some good lighting and a decent camera, and then make it partially transparent. This allows you to see the pony better. Then sketch the pony posing with you, and add details. Make sure that the colors of your pony match the lighting and picture. for example, if your skin looks a little washed out because the lighting was bad, make the ponies fur look a bit drab.
if you want to get super detailed, then remember that camera flash reflects off their fur and eyes sometimes, so you'll have specks of white speckling them if you used a flash. Use yourself as a reference!
